COMPETITION WEAR

All students who compete are required to wear a BjP competition leotard. There will be an annual try-on day at the start of the year to determine the correct sizing/style/colour matching. These will be available for sale (national orders are normally due mid-late April). There is also access to a second-hand swaps and sales page on Facebook - please let us know if you are interested. We also offer a hire system for leotards for those who do not wish to purchase brand new ones. Hire is $25/competition and allows students to wear different leotards throughout the year, and it does not matter if their size changes.

Competition Types

Every year, there are a selection of official competitions - all of our students are strongly encouraged to compete. We understand competitions may seem confronting, but honestly they are great fun, character building and provide a major sense of accomplishment.

There are a few different kinds of competitions held throughout the year. Note: girls are NEVER on the floor competing alone. Even in individual competitions, the girls are on the floor with roughly 15 others.

Interclubs - these are the first to happen throughout the year. They are fairly small, low-pressure competitions that involve the joining of a few different clubs. These competitions usually have beginner/novice sections as well for those who are starting out.

Zones - this is a qualifying event for national-level competitions. Although, this can be perceived to be higher-stress, it is an amazing opportunity that we encourage all students to participate in.

Teams - teams is an amazing day where the girls compete in club groups of 8 girls. The teams are judged together, no girls are judged individually. In this competition, the girls all wear black, long sleeve leotards which are provided by the club.

Repechage - note, this is a national competition which you must qualify for. If you make a zone final but DO NOT place, you qualify for this competition. Note: this is only for girls aged 6-14. If you do qualify, we will provide you will more information and dates.

Nationals - this is another event which you must qualify for, this happens by placing at zones or repechage (the rules here are different for seniors). National qualification is held in Sydney every year.

Club Competition - this is a fun day where both Brisbane and Ipswich come together to display the Physie that has been learned throughout the year. We also share awards and there are prizes available from the day as well.

Competition conduct & commitment is very important to us. Specifically the teams competition, in which we will require final commitment in June for teams. This is very important, as if one girl pulls out, the entire team will be disqualified. Attendance for team practices is also crucial. We will provide all dates ASAP when released by Head Office.

Our two clubs take pride in demonstrating good sportsmanship and respect to other competitors, teacher, officials, judges and spectators when attending competitions. We do not tolerate bad sportsmanship or behaviour which could reflect poorly on our clubs and their reputation.
